The successful candidate will be involved in Quality Control testing of raw materials and finished products, as well as in-process testing for ongoing production. Additionally, there will be opportunities to assist with ongoing research and development of new and existing products. Other duties include record keeping and maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-stocked laboratory.
We are a specialist liquid roofing manufacturing company seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician at our purpose-built facility located just off junction 31a of the M6 in Preston.
Responsibilities include:
Ensuring that laboratory testing is conducted to high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Maintaining accurate and proper records to meet the requirements of the laboratory management system.
Conducting sampling and testing in accordance with established protocols.
Ensuring that test equipment is checked, cleaned, and maintained to an acceptable level.
Communicating regularly and effectively with the senior chemist and other departments.
40 hours per week 8am to 5pm, 60mins unpaid lunch
Working methodically, following established procedures.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
Experience beyond the classroom is not required, as training will be provided, but enthusiasm for chemistry is a must. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in chemistry.
Applicants will be required to have five GCSE passes at Grade C/4 or equivalent including Maths, English and Science.

This is a varied and stimulating role allowing the applicant the opportunity to undertake a fully funded Laboratory Technician (Level 3) Apprenticeship in conjunction with Preston College. There will be the opportunity for further study, subject to proven aptitude and interest shown, as well is increasing levels of responsibility through ongoing training.
