COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN - 3 AXIS MILLING

This course provides natural continuation for those who have successfully completed the Computer Aided Design and Manufacture (CAD/CAM) course at Preston's College.

Throughout the six weeks, you will learn how to confidently operate a VMC (Vertical Machining Centre), as you import your previously processed designs into the relevant machine code language.

You will select relevant tools, set up and machine settings before testing your programme in simulation mode. Once confident with your programme, you will then run it, to manufacture your created component.

Upon successful completion, you will have developed higher skills, as you build upon already established equipment functions and material knowledge.

You will study a selection of topics, covering core subjects in:

  • Programme impact
  • Machine testing
  • Programme testing
  • Final manufacture
  • Prototype review and adjustment

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will be taught in purpose built workshops by industry experienced professionals, who will help you to develop the skills needed to undertake the fundemental basics and progress onto higher level study, if you so wish.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

Upon successful completion of this qualification, you will have obtained the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to progress your skills and professional remit. You may choose to progress onto higher level study, if desired.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

You will work in Heidenhain Machine Language.

This course will run subject to minimum numbers being met.
