With specific focus on the prevention and control of infection within healthcare settings, this qualification aims to provide a deeper understanding of the meaning and importance of infection control, the causes of infection and the conditions in which they thrive and spread, before exploring key methods used to prevent and control the spread of infection.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
To successfully achieve the qualification you must study and pass four modules, namely:
Principles of the causes and spread of infection in health care settings
Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in health care settings
Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management in health care settings
Principles of infection prevention and control in a health care settings
HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
Assessment occurs through internally assessed pieces, which may include a range of methods from workbooks and set tasks to written assignments and portfolio evidence.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
You should have a genuine interest in learning more about this subject. This can be from a personal perspective or as an employee in a relevant field seeking CPD opportunities.
Upon successful completion of all four modules you will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care settings.
You must be able to evidence that you can work at Level 1 or above in English.
