This course will provide you with the fundamentals of Wall and Floor Tiling at a higher level, with successful completion allowing you to demonstrate the skills, knowledge, understanding and competence needed to work as a tiler.

Successful completion also allows you to progress your career in industry, or undertake further study at a higher level.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

You will explore a range of modules on the course, including:

  • Tiling wall and floor surfaces in the workplace
  • Producing complex ceramic, mosaic and stone finishes in the workplace
  • Preparing backgrounds for tiling in the workplace
  • Developing and maintaining good occupational working relationships in the workplace
  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Confirming work activities and resources
  • Confirming the occupational method of work in the workplace

You will also study a minimum of two optional modules.

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will be taught in the newly renovated Construction Skills Centre, in purpose built workshops, where you will learn a variety of new techniques, skills and knowledge.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

This course has been designed for those already in employment and as a result you will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements, which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for Wall and Floor tiling.

You will be assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you complete your qualification. You will also be required to produce a portfolio of evidence, highlighting how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each module.

In order to achieve the qualification all of the seven mandatory and two optional modules must be passed.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

You can progress in employment as a Wall and Floor tiler, or progress onto higher level study in a related field.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

As our on-site facilities reflect industry working practices, you will be required to purchase and wear suitable PPE, including work boots and overalls or clothes that you do not mind getting dirty.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This qualification has been developed for achievement in a real work environment. As a result, to undertake this course you must be employed in industry as a Wall and Floor tiler.
