This one day course aims to train you in the basic knowledge and skills to take charge at the scene of an accident and provide emergency first aid in the absence of a fully qualified first aider. The course will equip you to deal with an emergency situation and is ideal for people requiring regulated first aid training for low/medium risk environments and is compliant with the Health and Safety Executive first aid syllabus, involving resuscitation, unconscious patients, broken bones, bleeding and many other medical emergencies.
This qualification helps you to understand the role of a First Aider, be able to manage an emergency situation safely, how to use CPR effectively, as well as dealing with injuries and illnesses. These types of injuries and illnesses range from those expected to the more uncommon situations you may have to deal with. Overall you become more confident dealing with any situation requiring First Aid and will be able to support a casualty suffering from illness or injury.
The course is made up of two mandatory units which are divided into theoretical and practical skills, guided by a tutor with time set aside for personal study and assessment. You will be taught be qualified teachers who have years of experience teaching and delivering first aid in the workplace and further afield.
You will be assessed through a variety of questions and practical assessments.
This course qualifies you to safely provide first aid. You can also progress to a Level 3 First Aid qualification.
You will be expected to participate in classroom activities, along with practical and theoretical assessments. You will be given opportunities to carry out simulated practical activities, watch videos and learn about administration related to First Aid.
There are no formal qualifications for this course.
