A selection of our award winners from the 2025 Staff Awards.

Tutor of the Year - Vikki Ashworth
Tutor of the Year – Vikki Ashworth

A student nominated award. Students are asked to nominate their tutor who has had an exceptionally positive impact on their learning, or time at the college or made a positive difference during a difficult time, or provided outstanding lessons that inspire and motivated them.

“As scary as it was going back to college at 41 years old, Vikki instantly put me at ease in her lessons. She is always smiling and loves the subjects she teaches and its infectious. I always looked forward to being in her classes.”

Business Support Person of the Year - Andrew Cross
Business Support Person of the Year – Andrew Cross

This award is for a business support member of staff that has provided outstanding service throughout the year. This could be from compliments received, having exceptional knowledge of their area, always treating others with a friendly, helpful attitude and dealing with requests efficiently and effectively.

“Andrew goes the extra mile to ensure the College infrastructure works as well as it can. He has also managed several projects, with tight timescales. He always has the College’s best interests at heart and does an amazing job.”

Support for Students Person of the Year - Lisa Topping
Support for Students Person of the Year – Lisa Topping

This award is for student support staff who go above and beyond to provide the utmost support for students. Someone whose understanding and commitment to our students is evident by the level of support that they provide and who has the ability to inspire and motivate others.

“Lisa has helped me become a more confident, and positive version of myself. I felt as if I wouldn’t have been able to get through the College year if it wasn’t for her support. I wanted to express how much I appreciate her caring nature and genuine interest in my well-being.”

Leader of the Year

Leader of the Year nominations are for leaders that lead by example and have the integrity to do the right thing. Someone who positively influences others, is inspirational and creates an environment where other people feel valued and fulfilled.

“Kat is an integral part of the College community and embodies everything the College stands for. She leads by example, never shying away from her responsibilities and always approaches tasks with enthusiasm and integrity.”

Rising Star of the Year

This award is for an apprentice, new starter or an existing member of staff who has recently moved to a different role in who has made a significant contribution and has shown talent in the workplace.

“Rose has not been with us for very long, but she’s already made a significant and positive impact. She approaches every task with enthusiasm and confidence. Rose is incredibly friendly and approachable, always greeting everyone with a warm smile.”

This award is for an employee whose contribution could be sustained, through long service, or exceptional day-to-day commitment that you feel deserves special recognition. This is the person whose selfless and committed nature helps the College to achieve its objectives every day.

“Jen brings an energy, warmth, and dedication that simply can’t be replicated. She has a skill with the learners and how she communicates with them. Jen creates a welcoming atmosphere every morning on the College High Street.”
