Key Learning Responsibilities
Repairing vehicles in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current legislation.
Routine vehicle maintenance to DVSA standards.
Preparation and presentation of vehicles for annual MOT inspection.
Diagnosis of vehicles using computer based diagnostic equipment.
Learn the fundamental technologies – Heavy Vehicle chassis design, engine, fuels, transmissions, hydraulic and air braking, etc.
Good housekeeping routines to meet H&S requirements.
Utilise all Personal Protective Equipment as necessary.
WORKING HOURS PER WEEK
Working Monday to Friday this is a full-time permanent role with contracted hours being 40 per week (between 08:00am and 16:30pm)
REQUIRED SKILLS
Good problem solving skills and being able to practically approach these to find solutions
REQUIRED QUALITIES
Must be able to work as part of a Team.
Ability to use own initiative.
Being hard-working, committed and enthusiastic about the role
Being confident and assured with a wide range of vehicles such as trucks, buses and plant equipment.
Having a passion for motor vehicles or experience working with motor vehicles would be desirable.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3 GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) in English and maths are preferable.
Ideally you be capable of passing an apprenticeship served to Level 3 and being qualified in Heavy vehicle Repair and Maintenance or City and Guilds equivalent.
Full clean driving licence desirable but must have the ability to obtain car and PSV licences if required.
