Preston’s College sponsors this year’s ‘Employer of the Year’ Award

Preston’s College is proud to sponsor the ‘Employer of the Year’ category at this year’s Be Inspired Business Awards, The BIBAs, which is now open for applications from businesses across Lancashire until July 31 2020.

Preston’s College has been working with local employers for over 25 years; forging strong relationships with business owners to help shape the future of industry and to help make a real impact on learners’ education. The college currently works with over 900 employers in the region and to sponsor this award allows the college to celebrate the successes of the incredible businesses in Lancashire.

The sponsorship of the BIBAs’ award compliments the recently launched Preston’s College’s ‘Exceptional Employer Awards’ of 2019; which saw our Principal and CEO Dr Lis Smith award five local businesses with the award, following staff nominations and a rigorous judging process by the college’s Senior Management Team.

Dr Lis Smith says: “As a college we are privileged to be working with some of the most well-respected, long standing SMEs, corporate businesses, family owned businesses and large enterprises. We see on a daily basis the incredible impact that employers have on our industry and our learners, and so, to ensure we support our local businesses, particularly as we find ourselves in the midst of an unprecedented global pandemic, sponsorship of awards is a small way to say thank you and celebrate their success.”

Speaking about the Coronavirus, Dr Lis Smith explains how inspirational businesses and institutions like Preston’s College have been, in finding innovative ways to stay connected with their workforces, learners and to carry on operating through this period of isolation.

“Preston’s College is using its online learning networks to help learners continue to progress effectively with their chosen qualifications, as well as providing support services. Similarly, employers are also using these networks to provide support and answer any questions their people may have, ensuring they feel valued and supported.”

“Every business knows their people are their most important asset and supporting them to maintain structure in their days is crucial at what is a hugely unsettling time for people. However, constant communication and listening to employees will be vital to continue to stabilise a business during the uncertainty brought by the nationwide lockdown.”

She adds: “This year’s BIBAs will be like no other and it will be a wonderful opportunity to hear of the innovative and inspired stories from our local businesses; to learn of the incredible work they have done to support the industry and how they find ways to get through the next few months.”
