Dr Lis Smith, Principal and Chief Executive of Preston’s College will retire in March 2021 after ten years of leadership at the college.
During this time, Lis has taken the college on an upward trajectory, improving the quality of teaching and learning, the financial stability of the college and in more recent months, the successful move to remote and online learning amidst the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Commenting on the reasons behind this decision, Dr Smith said:
“After 10 very fulfilling and happy years at Preston’s College, I have decided to retire at the end of March 2021. It has been a real privilege working with so many great staff and our learners.
Preston’s College is in a great place, with a real ambition to become an outstanding college. The way both learners and staff have adapted during these recent months has been a real testament to the dedication and passion of every individual, demonstrating real commitment to delivering our mission of making all learners the most employable, now and in the future.”
The recruitment process for a new Principal and Chief Executive has now begun, with further details of the successful candidate being made once the process is complete.
Concluding, Lis added:
“Blended learning and the ‘new normal’ present great opportunities for a new Principal and Chief Executive to drive the college further forward, paving the way for the continued success of this wonderful college, its dedicated staff and the community it serves.”
