Cyclists’ Tour of Lancashire Hits the Road at Preston’s College

The Velo29 Tour of Lancashire Sportive Cycle Ride took to the roads for the second time on Sunday 25th April 2021. The ride began at Preston’s College, with over 600 riders filling the college’s high street and campus before setting off on a tour throughout Lancashire’s countryside.

The recreational event was established just last year, but has already become a hit with local riders, with all 600 places selling out quickly. Riders were able to choose from three routes of varying difficulty at 30, 60 and 100 miles, through the picturesque forest of Bowland and beyond, tackling the infamous Nick O’ Pendle climb from Clitheroe, which really tested the participants.

Event Organiser, Richard Williamson had this to say: “This is our third post lock down event and we’ve done a huge amount of work to make it safe, smooth and fun. As we are based in the North East it’s always that bit tougher when we travel but the team at Preston’s College really helped with that, with great pre-event communication and they were really accommodating.”

“We run around 25 events a year of which 3 are classed as iconic. These are events considered as “must do” by Sportive riders and have been around for many years. We really do believe that the Tour of Lancashire will become one of these iconic events in years to come. The route, the facilities and the scenery offer everything you need to make a truly awesome day out on the bike.”

The next Velo29 Tour of Lancashire ride will take place in 2022, for more information, visit www.velo29events.com
