Health and Social Care Lecturer Jane completes her first ever marathon!

Having never run before, Jane decided to improve her fitness following two national lockdowns and began running in 2021.

Completing her first Park Run in August 2021, Jane went on to complete a 10k run just five weeks later, followed by 10 mile runs and the Blackpool Half Marathon in February 2022.

Using the same skills set she applies in her day-to-day role as a teacher, beginning with a self-assessment and the setting of ‘SMART’ targets, which included undertaking a series of smaller runs to review her targets against a set training plan, Jane has run steadily every week since November 2021, increasing her run times by 15 minutes per session.

Running Sunday’s marathon for herself and as a bit of fun, Jane completed the event in an impressive 4 hours and 39 minutes and is looking forward to some very well deserved rest before moving onto her next challenge!
