Preston College receives kind donation from late barber, Brian Kitchen

September 2022 saw Preston College receive a barber chair from the late Brian Kitchen, a barber in the local area for over forty years.

A strong supporter of future generations of barbers, Brian had a career spanning four decades in the city’s barbering industry, with the training of apprentices playing an integral role in his career success.

Moved from its home in Ribbleton to the newly renovated Preston College Barber Shop, the chair will play a vital role in training the next generation of barbering talent, as interest and demand for courses continues to grow.

Speaking at the time of the donation Brian’s daughter, Amanda, said:

“I am delighted that my late father’s chair is going to a good home and will continue to be used in the training of the new generation of barbers!”

Fiona Birtchet-Sharpe, Head of School for Service Industries added:

“We welcome the kind hearted donation of the barber chair from Brian’s family. It is a welcome addition to our newly renovated Barber Shop and will allow us to continue providing training to a range of adult learners, and services to the general public, in industry inspired facilities.”
