This past term has cast a well-deserved spotlight on the achievements of Steven, a dedicated tutor whose journey through Preston College is nothing short of inspiring.
Steven began his journey as a Preston College student back in the early 90s, studying Joinery Manufacturing—now recognised as Architectural Joinery. He quickly carved out a name for himself through skill, perseverance, and a deep passion for the craft.
Fast forward to today, and Steven has come full circle. After stepping into his Carpentry & Joinery lecturer role in 2022, he’s become a driving force behind many student successes. But his commitment to growth didn’t stop there.
In a proud personal milestone, Steven recently graduated from UCLAN after completing his Cert Ed. Reflecting on the moment, he said, “Grateful doesn’t even cover it. Onwards and upwards.” His graduation marks a crowning achievement in a career defined by continuous learning and dedication.
Steven’s accomplishments have continued to shine. He was shortlisted for Tutor of the Year at the Preston College Staff Awards, a testament to his impact and excellence in teaching. He also delivered his first-ever conference presentation, receiving a fantastic response. As Steven put it, “And this is why I do what I do!”
Stories like Steven’s embody Preston College’s commitment to Transforming Lives Through Education. Following our ethos and the 5 As of ambition—Attitude, Aspiration, Achievement, Accountability, and Action—Steven’s journey is a model of what it means to go above and beyond.
Congratulations, Steven. As you said, hard work really does pay off!
