Preston College students take a behind-the-scenes look at Crown Paints

A huge thank you to Crown Paints and the Hempel Group for opening their doors to our City & Guilds Level 1 and Level 2 Technical Painting and Decorating students!

Students enjoyed an incredible behind-the-scenes tour of the factory, along with insightful talks from Crown’s paint scientists and expert managers, who made complex concepts in chemistry and coatings both accessible and inspiring.

Seeing the full production process – how paint is designed, tested, and formulated for performance, gave our students a powerful new perspective on the science and precision behind every tin.

We were especially impressed by Crown’s dedicated sustainability team, whose commitment to recycling and environmental responsibility shone through at every stage.

We’re incredibly proud of our students, who represented Preston College brilliantly: focused, engaged, professional, and full of thoughtful questions throughout the visit.

Experiences like this bring classroom theory to life, connecting education directly with industry practice and preparing our learners for the world of work.
