Preston College Apprentices Shortlisted for the Prestigious Lancashire Apprenticeship Awards 2026

Preston College is proud to celebrate the success of three apprentices who have been named finalists in the Lancashire Apprenticeship Awards 2026.

These annual awards recognise outstanding apprentices from across the region who are making a significant impact early in their careers, demonstrating exceptional commitment, skill, and ambition in the workplace.

Representing Preston College on this year’s shortlist are:

• Shaun Gaskell, of Baxi Heating UK Ltd, shortlisted for the Engineering and Manufacturing Apprentice Award
• Niall Greene, also of Baxi Heating UK Ltd, shortlisted for the Degree Apprenticeship Award
• Summer Kirkby, of Be Beautiful, shortlisted for the Intermediate Apprenticeship Award

Their success reflects the exceptional standard of apprentices at Preston College, as well as the strength of partnerships with local employers.

Notably, both Shaun and Summer have previously been recognised at the Preston College Exceptional Apprentice and Employer Awards. Summer achieved particular distinction by being named ‘Apprentice of the Year 2026’, highlighting her outstanding dedication and achievements in her field.

This year’s entries were particularly strong, highlighting not only the talent of apprentices across Lancashire but also their growing role in inspiring the next generation. Many finalists have actively shared their experiences with young people, helping them to explore career pathways and make informed choices about their futures.

The Lancashire Apprenticeship Awards 2026 will shine a spotlight on the vital role apprenticeships play in developing a skilled workforce, while also recognising the invaluable support provided by employers, mentors, and training providers.

Linzi Monks, Director of Apprenticeships and Employer Engagement, says: “We are incredibly proud to see three of our apprentices shortlisted for these prestigious awards. This recognition is a testament to their hard work, determination, and the positive impact they are already making in their industries. Apprenticeships are a powerful way to build careers, and it’s fantastic to see our learners leading the way.”

A huge congratulations goes to all shortlisted finalists, and thanks are extended to the judging panel for their time and dedication in reviewing this year’s entries.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony later this year at Blackpool Football Club on Thursday 7 May.
