Wednesday 19 April – Wednesday 5 July 2023, 6-9pm, Preston College
Ideal for aspiring business owners, this course will cover the key things you need to know about setting up your business. You will learn about the types of business ownership, human resources, business costs, marketing and business planning. You will then apply your learning and create your own business plan complete with SWOT analysis, market segmentation, finances, branding and advertising.
Wednesday 19 April – Wednesday 16 July 2023, 6-9pm, Preston College
Learn the skills and develop your confidence to lead, inspire and motivate teams. Whether you are an current or aspiring team leader, mentor or manager you will find this qualification can support you in developing the key skills and attributes required of leaders and managers. There are six units covering understanding leadership, managing yourself, leading your team, coaching in the workplace, decision making, problem solving and innovation. Each of the six units requires an assignment for assessment.
Tuesday 18 April – Tuesday 11 July, 6-9pm, Preston College
Improve your safety online with this Cyber Security course. You will gain knowledge of the common forms of cybercrime and tactics used by cyber criminals to defraud individuals such as phishing, identity theft and ransomware. You will also explore the various protective methods to maintain your security online including software, firewalls, protecting personal information, anti-malware, browser safety and data protection.
Thursday 8 June – Thursday 6 July, 5.30pm-7.30pm, Online via Teams
Explore how to create a mentally healthy environment within your work setting and support individuals with mental ill health. On this course you will explore the different types of mental ill health and the factors that may increase the risk of mental ill in individuals. You will be required to complete three workbooks and participate in the lessons and task assessments.
Tuesday 2 May – Tuesday 13 June, 5.30pm-7.30pm, Online via Teams
This course provides an overview of the prevalence of mental health issues in children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years old. You will also cover risk factors, ways to support young people in distress, safeguarding, legislation and duty of care alongside social and cultural attitudes and media influences. You will be required to complete three workbooks and participate in the lessons and task assessments.
Wednesday 10 May – Wednesday 5 July, 5.30pm-7.30pm, Online via Teams
Develop your knowledge and skills around supporting individuals with learning disabilities, enabling you to tailor your support to individual needs. You will study three units: the context of supporting individuals, awareness of autistic spectrum conditions and promoting positive behaviour. You will be required to complete three workbooks and participate in the lessons and task assessments.
Friday 28 April – Friday 9 June, 1.30pm-4.30pm, Preston College
Develop a broad awareness of dementia and is ideal for those working or looking to work in the health and social care sector with this Level 2 Award. You will learn about the causes, symptoms and the unique needs of individuals affected by dementia. You will also study and develop techniques to use to facilitate positive interactions that reinforce identity and uniqueness for individuals with this condition.
Wednesday 26 April – Wednesday 7 June, 5.30pm-7.30pm, Online via Teams
Develop your awareness of the core risk factors, triggers and indicators of suicide and gain knowledge surrounding suicides that could have been prevented. The course will also have a focus on coping strategies, solution focussed responses, stressful situations and their impact on mental health. You will be required to complete three workbooks and participate in the lessons and task assessments.
