New Level 2 Barbering learners benefited from a unique masterclass on the first evening of their one year programme, as four successful graduates from the course returned to showcase their skills.
Martin, James, Craig and Mike all completed a range of Level 2 and Level 3 Barbering qualifications at Preston’s College before successfully progressing into Barbering and Barber Shop ownership roles.
Demonstrating a range of cutting and styling techniques, both Martin, now proud owner of The Groomsman in Bamber Bridge and James, a practising Barber and Barber Shop Manager, alongside Craig and Mike, Barber at The Gentry in Leyland, spoke in depth to the new learners about their pathways to success, answering questions and demonstrating key barbering techniques.
Highlighting their own career changes, Martin from a Council Worker, James from a Pub Manager and Mike from a DJ, all four former learners explained how they were still on a learning journey, alongside their ambitious plans for progression.
Martin, owner of The Groomsman in Bamber Bridge explained his impressive plans to transform the barbering industry. Speaking, he said:
“Today, male grooming goes well beyond just getting your hair cut. My end goal is to offer full wedding packages for men, hence the shop name, with packages encompassing all aspects of male grooming.”
Highlighting to the new learners that just a couple of years ago all four barbers were stood in their shoes, having never picked up a pair of scissors, Martin, James, Craig and Mike provided inspiration to the next generation of budding barbers, with the evening also providing a great introduction to both Preston’s College and the opportunities presented by the Barbering course.
