This course is ideal if you are aiming to establish or enhance your career in the field of Business Administration and will provide you with the essential knowledge and skills required in a variety of administrative roles within a business setting. 

At Preston College, we recognise the important role that administrative skills play across all sectors, and this course is designed to help you  develop new skills, enhance exisiting skills and to boost your confidence and corporate skills. 

 

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

As part of this Business Administration course, you will study the following modules: 

Principles of Working in Business Administration: Learn the purpose, structure, and functions of a business organisation, and explore career opportunities. 

Principles of Professional Behaviour: Understand key features like personal accountability, and professional behaviour, as well as legal regulations in the workplace. 

Principles of Providing Administrative Services: Master diary management, organising meetings, record keeping and the importance of customer service and business impact. 

Principles of Creating Documents: Develop professional skills in creating business documents, formats, creating content, layouts and understanding how to work within corporate identity guidelines across different documents. 

Employee  Rights and Responsibilities: Understand employment law, contracts of employment and pay statements. 

Principles of Supporting Meetings: Gain hands-on experience with planning and preparing for formal meetings, including how to set agendas and taking meeting minutes and disseminating papers. 

Understanding Personal Development: Identify your role in a team and create a plan for growth and career progression. 

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

You will be taught in a classroom setting at Preston College.

You will study in small groups to share experiences and examples of good practice. You’ll also get the opportunity to reflect with your class peers, what has worked well, what hasn’t and develop a valuable insight how to successfully secure employment within an office environment.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment on this programme will comprise of various methods that will evaluate your knowledge, skills and competencies that have been acquired throughout your programme of study including: 

  • observations
  • presentations
  • assignment briefs
  • projects
  • role play
  • case studies

Whether you're taking your first steps towards a rewarding career in business administration, or seeking to advance your existing skill set, this qualification will provide the tools, knowledge, and opportunities to enhance your employment prospects in a variety of professional settings.

You may be able to progress on to study one of our many other adult courses that compliment this sector, such as our Level 2, Level 3 and Level 5 Leadership and Management courses. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Whilst formal English qualifications are not required for direct entry on to this programme, you will need to possess proficient English skills that will enable you to fully participate in all aspects of your learning and successfully achieve your qualification.

Your level of English skills will be assessed during the application process and will be determined by any previously obtained qualifications or via an English assessment, where appropriate.
