UNDERSTANDING ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES - LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE

This qualification will develop your understanding of adverse childhood experiences and will provide practical techniques for addressing and preventing adverse experiences in practice, either in your current or future role.

Topics of exploration will include the holistic development and different perspectives of childhood of young people from 0-18 years old. It will cover the indicators and situations that impact on negative childhood experiences, as well as the role of practitioners in supporting young people impacted by adverse childhood experiences.

It provides insight into health, development, education and wellbeing and the significance of attachment relationships. You will also explore Strategies that will improve the outcome of those affected, including the resilience framework.

This programme will support your progression into further learning within this field, or advancement into relevant employment within the education, health and social care sectors. 

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Studied on a part-time basis, as part of the programme, you will focus your studies on three core units:

  • Exploring childhood and family structures
  • Introduction to adverse childhood experiences
  • Strategies to improve outcomes for children affected by adverse childhood experiences

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will be taught on campus at Preston College via interactive sessions and you will be required to participate in task assessments as part of the programme. Throughout the programme you will be required to complete a workbook for final submission. 

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

Upon successful completion of this course, you may choose to progress onto additional study with us, in your chosen field. Preston College offer a wide range of short courses in a variety of other subjects, as well as a selection of adult course at different levels in education, counselling and health and social care.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You should be working to a Level 1 standard in English and must be able to demonstrate an intersted in this subject.
