ILM LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT - LEVEL 5 CERTIFICATE

Designed for practising and aspiring middle managers, this qualification is ideal if you are ready to progress beyond the foundations of management and develop the broader leadership capabilities required to take on greater responsibility.
Building on the principles explored at Level 3, the Level 5 Development pathway shifts the focus from managing people and day-to-day challenges to understanding leadership within the wider organisation. You will explore more complex areas including organisational culture, strategic planning, risk, sustainability, inclusive leadership, continuous improvement and leading change.
You will be encouraged to look more critically at your own leadership practice, consider how your decisions influence others and develop a greater understanding of the role leaders play in shaping teams, culture and organisational performance.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The qualification combines the mandatory Developing Leadership and Management Practices unit with the following units:
Artificial Intelligence in Leadership Practice
Organisational Culture and Ethics
Organisational Sustainability Practice
Managing Inclusive Practices and Workplace Wellbeing
Principles of Strategic Planning and Organisational Risk
Planning Projects
Continuous Improvement and Change Management in Organisations
Together, these units will help you move beyond the fundamentals of managing people and develop a broader perspective of leadership, including how effective leaders influence culture, navigate complexity, contribute to organisational priorities and lead positive change.
HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
This qualification is delivered on-site at Preston College, providing dedicated time away from the day-to-day demands of your role to focus on your leadership and professional development.
Through tutor-led sessions, discussion, activities and shared learning with other practising and aspiring managers, you will explore contemporary leadership and management thinking and consider how it relates to real organisational challenges.
At Level 5, you will be encouraged to think beyond your immediate team or area of responsibility and consider leadership within the wider organisational context, developing your ability to analyse, challenge, reflect and make informed leadership decisions.
The course combines higher-level leadership theory with practical application, enabling you to take new perspectives and approaches back into your workplace.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will complete assignments throughout the qualification, giving you the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of higher-level leadership and management principles and apply your learning to relevant organisational situations.
You will build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your knowledge, critical thinking, application and development throughout the programme.

Successful completion of the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management Development course can support progression into more senior leadership and management responsibilities or enable you to make a greater contribution within your existing role.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You will complete a Skills Scan before starting the programme to ensure the qualification is appropriate for your experience and development needs.
You should normally have management or leadership responsibilities, or relevant experience that will enable you to engage with leadership and management concepts at Level 5. The qualification is particularly suitable if you are looking to progress into middle or more senior management responsibilities.
