Designed for aspiring and practising managers, team leaders and supervisors, this work-based qualification is ideal if you already have management responsibilities and want to strengthen your skills through practical, workplace-focused learning. It is also suitable if you are preparing to take the next step into a management role.

The Skills pathway focuses on developing the practical leadership and management capabilities that can make a real difference in the workplace. Depending on the units selected, you could develop skills in areas such as managing performance, leading high-performing teams, communication, project management, managing change, decision-making and stakeholder relationships.

Throughout the qualification, you will have opportunities to apply your learning directly within your role, helping you to become a more confident and effective manager while supporting the needs of your organisation and team.

Course Information

Course delivery is tailored to the specific needs of your organisation, with training delivered in the workplace and the course content, structure and duration agreed with you to reflect your workforce priorities and development needs.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

The qualification combines the mandatory Developing Effective Leadership Skills unit, alongside a selection of three optional units which can be chosen to reflect workplace development needs.

Managing and Implementing change

The organisation and its environmental responsibilities

HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?

This qualification is delivered in the workplace, providing a flexible and practical approach to learning that can be tailored to your role and organisational needs.

You will develop your knowledge and skills through work-based learning, using real situations and experiences from your role to put your learning into practice.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Assessment is work-based and designed to demonstrate how you apply your leadership and management skills in practice.

You will complete assignments throughout the qualification and build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your knowledge, skills and development.

WHAT CAN I DO NEXT?

Successful completion of the ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills can support progression within your current role or help prepare you for further management responsibilities.

You may also choose to continue your professional development by progressing to the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills pathway.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?

As this is a work-based qualification, you will need opportunities within your role to apply and demonstrate your leadership and management skills.

The optional units studied may be selected to reflect your role, workplace responsibilities and the development needs of your organisation.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will complete a Skills Scan before starting the programme to ensure the qualification is appropriate for your role and development needs.

You should currently have management or team leadership responsibilities, or be working towards a role in which you will have these responsibilities.
