Strengthen leadership capability across your organisation with this work-based ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills.
Designed for employers looking to develop the skills of existing and emerging managers, this qualification provides a practical way to build leadership and management capability around the needs of your workforce and organisation.
At Level 5, the focus moves beyond the day-to-day management of people and teams to developing the skills required to manage at a more senior and operational level. This qualification is delivered in the workplace, providing a flexible and practical approach to learning that can be tailored to your role and organisational needs.
You will develop your knowledge and skills through work-based learning, using real situations and experiences from your role to put your learning into practice.
This qualification is developed and delivered within the workplace, allowing learning to be closely aligned with the employee’s role and the needs of the organisation.
Rather than learning leadership and management skills in isolation, managers use real workplace situations, challenges and projects to develop and demonstrate their capabilities.
This practical approach enables employers to invest in skills that can be applied directly within their organisation, while managers benefit from learning that is relevant to their responsibilities and career development.
Assessment is work-based and focuses on demonstrating the practical application of leadership and management skills.
Managers will complete assignments and build a portfolio of evidence throughout the qualification, drawing on their workplace responsibilities, experiences and activities to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and development.
Successful completion of the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management Skills can support progression into more senior management and leadership responsibilities.
The skills developed through the programme can also enable managers to take greater responsibility for people, projects, resources and organisational performance within their existing role.
This is a work-based leadership and management qualification and managers will therefore need sufficient opportunities within their role to apply and demonstrate higher-level management skills.
The optional units can be selected to reflect the manager's responsibilities alongside identified organisational skills needs, enabling employers to create a bespoke programme that supports both individual development and wider workforce priorities.
Managers will complete a Skills Scan before starting the programme to ensure the qualification is appropriate for their role, responsibilities and development needs.
As this is a Level 5 qualification, participants should be working in a management role with sufficient responsibility and opportunity to apply higher-level leadership and management skills within the workplace.
