More Than a Performance – Joel Foster Inspires Students Through Music

Recently, Preston College had the honour of welcoming Joel, a talented young musician with an extraordinary journey. At just 20 years old, Joel has already performed over 250 gigs, including weddings and live events alongside his elder brother. His musical path began in 2017 when he captured national attention as a contestant on the first season of The Voice Kids UK, igniting his passion to share his music.

The purpose of Joel’s visit was to educate our students about mental health, respectful relationships, and anti-bullying – whilst also helping students navigate the world as a young person. After a captivating performance, Joel led a session of this, drawing from personal experience, he spoke about how music was a great distraction and became his lifeline during difficult times.

Students from a wide range of courses attended this performance including; childcare, business, painting and decorating, health and social care, hair and beauty, plastering, and automotive – and was enjoyed by all which really shows the significance of his message!

The visit concluded with an engaging Q&A, where students eagerly asked questions and shared their thoughts.

Huge thank you to Joel for inspiring us all!
