Preston College Dance Learners Join Rugby League World Cup Showcase

Wednesday 30th March 2022 saw Preston College Dance learners head to University of Central Lancashire’s (UCLan) University Square, as three Rugby League World Cup trophies arrived in Preston, to mark 200 days until the start of the tournament.

With the city hosting the men’s Welsh team for the competition, which begins in Autumn 2022, the dancers were accompanied by the UCLan men’s rugby league team, UCLan cheerleaders and a host of school rugby teams from across the Preston area. Also in attendance was Mayor of Preston, Cllr Javed Iqbal.

Sporting the famous red colours of the Welsh Rugby League Team, the dancers were ready to perform their recent Move It 2022 Mainstage piece ‘Act Now’, choreographed by Maxine Bowers, which takes inspiration from the Red Rebel Brigade’s peaceful activism and raises awareness of the climate change emergency facing our planet.

Preston College Dance has 30 years’ experience of training Dancers, Dance Teachers and Performers. With a mission of nurturing each individual and providing training and qualifications that can lead to sustainable and lifelong careers in dance performance and teaching, performances on a range of external stages throughout the year are just one of the many opportunities open to all Preston College Dance learners.
