Preston College learner swims for charity

Preston College’s Public Services Scholarship learner, Keira, is swimming 457 lengths to raise money for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.

The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation was formed and set up in memory of Lieutenant John Thornton, who was tragically killed in Afghanistan (Helmand Province) on the 30th March 2008. John Thornton sacrificed his life whilst serving for the 40 Commando Royal Marines.

Keira is undertaking this challenge as part of the Junior Leaders Course and is swimming 457 lengths in recognition and in honour of the 457 British Soldiers who sadly lost their lives during the conflict in Afghanistan.

Keira has already begun her challenge and will complete it on 25th March 2024. For updates on her progress and to donate visit her Just Giving page here.

Good luck Keira!
