Preston College shortlisted for TWO Educate North Awards

We are delighted to announce that Preston College has been shortlisted as a FINALIST for not one, but two awards in this year’s prestigious Educate North Awards.

Each year, the Educate North Awards celebrate excellence, world class achievement and improvement across the University, HE, FE and Sixth Form sectors in the North of England. The awards are designed to recognise and share best practice and excellence in the education sector.

This year we are pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted as a finalist in the:

  • Music and Performing Arts Award
  • Business Collaboration & Partnerships Award – HE/FE Sector

Simon Nixon, Interim Principal and Chief Executive at Preston College says: “I am delighted to announce that Preston College has been shortlisted for these two awards. Both awards show the diversity of what we do as a college, with music and performing arts being a particular area of great success. The strong employer partnerships we have developed really help us to ensure that our curriculum is impactful in meeting Local Skills needs.”

He adds: “Both of these awards celebrate all of the fantastic work that is taking place in our college as well as the ongoing contribution we make to our local community.”

Professor Phil Harris, Chair of the Judges says: “The standard of entries gets higher each year and the popular awards event ensures that we recognise the incredible work which so many people are doing despite the complexities of education in the UK currently”.

This announcement follows a fantastic month of achievement and success at the College. Aligning recent successes with the two shortlisted award categories above, Preston College received an extraordinary four awards at the National Operatic and Dramatic Association North West Region 2 Awards for music and performing arts, whilst we are thrilled to announce that we are finalists in this year’s Association of College’s Beacon Awards for ‘Engagement with Employers’ (winners to be announced on Monday 27 February in London).

The full list of the Educate North Award shortlist can be found on the Educate North website. Winners will be announced at an Awards Dinner on the evening of Thursday 27th April 2023 at The Midland Hotel in Manchester.

Congratulations to all of the finalists that have been shortlisted in this year’s awards.
