A Level and AS Level learners at Preston’s College are celebrating after achieving a record number of passes.

Approximately 200 A Level and AS students collect their exam results today, with the college announcing an exceptional overall pass rate of 99 per cent.

The percentage of learners achieving grades A*-C is ten per cent higher than last year, with almost two thirds of learners achieving grades A*-C.

The class of 2014/15 also produced top class results in a number of subjects, with 100 per cent A* – C grades in Art & Design, Business Studies, Government & Politics, Graphics and Media.

The majority of learners will now continue their studies by progressing onto higher education, either at Preston’s College or university, or commence directly into employment.

These phenomenal successes come weeks before the new term is due to begin, which sees the College’s state-of-the-art iSTEM Centre open its doors to new real work skills curriculum.

These revolutionary programmes, which include A-Levels, will provide students with the skills and experience required by industry through replicating real work environments and working on live briefs.

Welcoming around 13,000 students each year, Preston’s College offers a mix of Vocational courses, Apprenticeships and A Levels to ensure every student in Lancashire has access to their preferred subject and career choice.

Commenting on this year’s results, Lis Smith, Principal and CEX at Preston’s College, said: “Preston’s College is extremely proud of all our students’ achievements. These fantastic results are a credit to their dedication as well as the support they receive from our teaching staff and at home.

“These young people have worked extremely hard throughout the year and it’s superb that we’re able to equip them with the qualifications needed to pursue their chosen career.

“The new academic year presents a number of exciting changes to the College, with our iSTEM Centre enhancing our ability to make learners the most employable. This will better equip our Vocational and A Level students with the skills and experience needed to boost their future career prospects and achieve our vision as the leading STEM education provider in the north of England.”
