Essential Office Skills has been designed for those looking to develop their employability skills and boost your confidence to work within an office environment. Those who successfully complete the course will leave with the necessary skills to advance their current career prospects, get back into employment in an administrative role, or even follow a different career path completely.
On this course you will gain four qualifications:

• Customer Service - Level 1 Award
• Essential Digital Skills - Entry Level

Learn the skills and develop your confidence to lead, inspire and motivate teams. Whether you are an current or aspiring team leader, mentor or manager you will find this qualification can support you in developing the key skills and attributes required of leaders and managers. There are six units covering understanding leadership, managing yourself, leading your team, coaching in the workplace, decision making, problem solving and innovation. Each of the six units requires an assignment for assessment.

Improve your safety online with this Cyber Security course. You will gain knowledge of the common forms of cybercrime and tactics used by cyber criminals to defraud individuals such as phishing, identity theft and ransomware. You will also explore the various protective methods to maintain your security online including software, firewalls, protecting personal information, anti-malware, browser safety and data protection.

• Identifying different forms of cybercrime and possible motives
• The affect of cybercrime on individuals and organisations
• Tactics used by cybercriminals to defraud individuals
• Routine cybersecurity testing and setting up user access controls
• Legislation for individual and organisational protection

Explore how to create a mentally healthy environment within your work setting and support individuals with mental ill health. On this course you will explore the different types of mental ill health and the factors that may increase the risk of mental ill in individuals. You will be required to complete three workbooks and participate in the lessons and task assessments.

• Understanding how to support individuals with mental ill health
• Mentally healthy environments

Online classes run: Wednesdays 5.30pm-7.30pm, via Teams
This course provides an overview of the prevalence of mental health issues in children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years old. You will also cover risk factors, ways to support young people in distress, safeguarding, legislation and duty of care alongside social and cultural attitudes and media influences. You will be required to complete three workbooks and participate in the lessons and task assessments.
Units of Study:
• Children and young people’s mental health in context
• Mental health problems commonly associated with children and young people
• The impact of mental ill-health on children and young people
• The support available to maintain mental wellbeing in children and young people

Online classes run: Wednesdays 5.30pm-7.30pm, via Teams
Develop your knowledge and skills around supporting individuals with learning disabilities, enabling you to tailor your support to individual needs. You will study three units: the context of supporting individuals, awareness of autistic spectrum conditions and promoting positive behaviour. You will be required to complete three workbooks and participate in the lessons and task assessments.

• The context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities
• Introductory awareness of autistic spectrum conditions
• Promoting positive behaviour
Start date: Friday 28 April
End date: Friday 9 June
Classes run: Fridays 1.30pm-4.30pm
Develop a broad awareness of dementia and is ideal for those working or looking to work in the health and social care sector with this Level 2 Award. You will learn about the causes, symptoms and the unique needs of individuals affected by dementia. You will also study and develop techniques to use to facilitate positive interactions that reinforce identity and uniqueness for individuals with this condition.
Units of Study:
• Dementia awareness
• The person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
• Understanding the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
• Understanding equality, diversity, and inclusion in dementia care
Start date: Wednesday 26 April
End date: Wednesday 7 June
Online classes run: Wednesdays 5.30pm-7.30pm, via Teams
Develop your awareness of the core risk factors, triggers and indicators of suicide and gain knowledge surrounding suicides that could have been prevented. The course will also have a focus on coping strategies, solution focussed responses, stressful situations and their impact on mental health. You will be required to complete three workbooks and participate in the lessons and task assessments.

• Understanding suicide
• Stress vulnerability and ability to cope
• Understanding different stressful situations individuals face
• Stressful situations and impact on mental health
