Lancashire further education provider, Preston’s College, has been awarded with Approved Training Centre status by the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE).

Tracey Richardson, the Institute’s first female National President, presented the official plaque to Mark Taylor, Head of School for Construction & the Built Environment at the Preston’s College construction centre.

The prestigious status was granted to the College alongside building services engineering partner, JTL, following the FE provider’s ongoing commitment to providing industry standard teaching and learning.

CIPHE actively work alongside education providers to ensure young people develop professional skills through technical training programmes to align with workforce demands.

After awarding the plaque, Membership Manager, Marie McCaffrey and the National President of CIPHE, Tracey Richardson, educated Preston’s College Level 2 Plumbing & Heating learners on the Institute’s origins and career opportunities post-study.

The pair also provided learners with one year’s free CIPHE membership, allowing learners to gain access to online professional development modules and CPD courses.

Mark Taylor, head of school for construction & the built environment at Preston’s College, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be awarded with Approved Training Centre status by CIPHE. It consolidates our hard work and efforts to provide high standards of teaching and learning.

“We have witnessed considerable growth in the construction department and strive to continue this fantastic momentum in the future.

“At Preston’s College, we aim to make learners the most employable by equipping them with industry skills to ensure they are career ready.”

Marie McCaffrey, Membership Manager at CIPHE, added: “The CIPHE are delighted to recognise Preston’s College as one of our Approved Training Centres.

“We are also very pleased to hear of the partnership between Preston’s College and JTL in supporting learners and apprentices in their training and professional development.

“We aim to encourage learners to recognise the benefits of being associated with the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering, thanks to sponsorship provided by City & Guilds, as a first step on their career path to becoming professionals in their field.”

Preston’s College offers construction courses ranging from Level 1 to HNC.
