Workforce @ Preston’s College is our dedicated service providing opportunities for people who are not currently in employment to develop their skills and experience to help them on the path to a new career. We work closely with our partners, including Jobcentre Plus and employers to ensure that we provide the best advice and support that we can for people looking to take the next step back into work.
We provide short sessions and courses to help get you back into work. These lead to a workskills qualification and include tips on CV writing, interview techniques and job hunting.
Sector-based work academies
Working with major employers, we offer a range of work academies which provide short programmes aimed at developing your skills in a particular area.
These programmes lead to a guaranteed interview and so far we have had people successfully employed by companies such as Waitrose, Holiday Inn and TK Maxx. All our work academy programmes are FREE for those unemployed and in receipt of Job Seeker’s Allowance.
We run sector-based work academies in many areas including:
- introduction to internet/e-mail
- introduction to word Processing
- catering and food hygiene
- construction & cscs
- call centre
This list is not exhaustive and we are able to work with businesses to create programmes. Please see your Job Centre advisor for more information.
