Preston’s College are delighted to hand over a cheque for £1,040.16 to local Preston based charity, The Space Centre.
Organised by the College’s Estates and Facilities team, tickets were made available to both staff and students who dug deep into their pockets to support the Ashton-on-Ribble based charity.
Prizes included £100 high street vouchers, signed memorabilia including an Anthony Crolla match worn boxing glove and a fully integrated kitchen appliance from Howdens Joinery.
The Space Centre is a multi-sensory facility where people with physical, emotional or learning difficulties can develop skills and enjoy experiences not usually available to them.
This is the third successive year the College’s facilities team have held a raffle with last year’s donation of £935.05 going to Rock FM’s Cash 4 Kids charity.
Talking about the donation, raffle organiser and Preston’s College maintenance officer, Lisa Keegan, said: “Every year we are overwhelmed by the level of support we receive from local contractors and organisations who donate a range of fantastic prizes.
“Being a large employer in the Preston area means some members of staff will inevitably have close ties or affinities to selected charities each year. As such, colleagues always dig deep into their pockets to help support their community’s local charities.”
Andrea Baker, Fundraiser at The Space Centre, added: “It never ceases to amaze us here at the Space Centre how kind and generous the local community are and once again, we are both thankful and grateful of such generosity.
“We welcomed the Estates and Facilities Department and showed them around our facility. I think everyone went away happy knowing the money was going to be well spent.
“Thank you so much to Preston College for this fantastic donation.”
