A Message From The Principal

I really hope that you are keeping well, and that you have managed to continue to progress in your learning in spite of the challenges presented by the ongoing pandemic.

I wanted to update you in relation to recent government announcements, and outline the college response to the recommendations put forward regarding the provision of education.

Our primary focus at this time is to maintain the health, safety and wellbeing of our college community, and we are currently working to ensure that at the point that we re-open our campus, we are confident that we have mitigated the risks associated with the Covid-19 virus.

I want to be clear that it is not our intention to re-open during week commencing 1st June 2020, and that when we do re-open, it will initially be on a very limited basis. I would also like to reinforce that we are fully committed to completing the delivery of all qualifications, and that our staff will continue to work with you until the end of this academic year in best preparing you for your preferred destination.

For the remainder of this academic year, our main priority in relation to face-to-face engagement with learners will be with those of you who are required to undertake a formal assessment to support the successful completion of your programme. This means that if you are currently home-working, and are not required to come in to college to complete any work, then our staff will continue to work with you to complete your course remotely.

We have not yet received formal details regarding the required assessment of technical qualifications, and until we do, our staff will continue to engage with you via our on-line platforms. Once the assessment situation is clear, we will then work with every individual learner in agreeing plans for delivery and assessment, with a view to ensuring that you have the best opportunity to achieve your qualification.

If you have any concerns as a learner, parent or carer, please contact us via email on: corona@preston.ac.uk

Have a restful half term and stay safe.

Dr Lis Smith
