This Apprenticeship covers a wide range of job roles across the health care and social care fields, equipping you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in the industry. Social Care is about helping people with diverse needs of all ages. This type of care takes place anywhere in the community, from people in their own homes to clinics, surgeries, hostels, communal living, hospitals, rest homes and nursing homes.

What will I learn?

…in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings.

Other examples inclue:

  • Contribute to health and safety in health and social care
  • The role of the health and social care worker
  • Implement person centred approaches in health and social care
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care.

How will I be taught?

You will be based in your place of work four days per week and attend College one day per week. You will be taught in the classroom by an industry qualified tutor and also study maths and English if necessary.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed in one or more of the following ways:

  • Assignments
  • Online tests
  • Oral questioning
  • ePortfolio of evidence
  • Practical demonstration/observation

What can I do next?

From Level 2 you may be able to progress onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship. Completion of the Level 3 Apprenticeship will stand you in good stead for progression onto Higher Education in subjects like nursing or midwifery.

Entry Requirements

All Apprenticeships require an initial assessment, interview and employment in the industry. At Level 2 you’ll need four GCSEs at grade D or above including English and maths.
