Learners at Preston’s College’s partner Schools in Blackburn and Lancaster are celebrating A Level success as their excellent performance surpassed the achievements of previous years’ learners, with 100% pass rates in both AS and A-Level English Language & Literature. Overall, more than 85% of A-Level learners achieved high grades (A*-C).
The courses are delivered at both schools by Preston’s College tutors. The results demonstrate the hard work of both staff and learners, and mark the most successful period in the College’s history of delivering A-Levels in the community.
Commenting, Preston’s College Principal, Lis Smith said:
“I would like to extend my congratulations to our A-Level English learners, who through determination and commitment to study have enjoyed considerable success in their examinations. This success is clearly underpinned by teaching excellence and positive relationships with our partner Schools.”
The unique relationship between Preston’s College and two local faith schools brings education into the community and broadens the learners’ educational experience. The provision offered gives learners the opportunity to develop their academic skills by studying A Levels alongside BTEC courses to enhance their career opportunities in the future. The College offers wider enrichment opportunities associated with these courses to support learning and to ensure a great experience.
Level 3 learners joining Preston’s College from this September are able to access additional A-Level study, alongside their technical-vocational qualification, following the introduction of an ‘A-Level Extra’ programme. This gives learners the chance to secure a broader combination of qualifications by studying one A-Level alongside their vocational course. The A-Levels currently on offer include English, Maths, Biology and Psychology, and will allow learners to develop creative and technical skills alongside research and analytical skills.
