Science is a vast area with hundreds of opportunities across different sectors. You can choose to specialise in a field or use your skills to work in commercial areas. Areas of employment include academia, research, food science, chemicals, criminal investigation, environmental science, geoscience and healthcare sciences.
You’ll need skills in problem solving, data analysis and presentation skills to collate the findings of your investigations into meaningful information.
At Preston College you’ll benefit from our iSTEM Centre, with dedicated science facilities and equipment. There are dual use classroom and laboratories so you can put theory into practice. We also house industry standard equipment, compromising of a PCR machine which amplifies DNA, ultraviolet visible spectrophotometers, digital melting point apparatus, infrared spectrophotometers, a telescope and forensic kits.

NEW T-Level in Science (Laboratory Operations)! T-Levels are innovative new courses that combine technical learning, practical work and a minimum 45 day (315 hours) industry placement with a local employer to ensure you have relevant and real experience in the workplace.
